At first, I never considered myself a writer. As someone who’s third language is English, I often felt embarrassed when I had to write and always had a fear that the diction I used was improper. However, as the years passed by and after countless mistakes, I continued to write to myself everyday. To me, today, writing is more than just a measly assignment but rather a way to express myself. Everyday, I found myself writing about how I felt, what intrigued me, my goals, my life, and even silly little things like shopping lists. As a writer, I am an artist who gets to tell a story whether it’s real or fictional. Although I am not the best writer, it is one of my goals to truly take advantage of the power that comes with writing. I strive to convey and showcase purpose, compassion, and emotion in my writing. At the beginning of sixth grade, I used to write, edit, and publish books secretly. Thousands of people would read my books and would ask me to continue writing. I loved the euphoria I got from reading and writing, and it continues to grow indefinitely each passing year. Although I have deleted all my published books, it still remains to be one of my biggest regrets in life. I hope as I begin my college journey, my writing will flourish, grow stronger, and I will gain confidence to write more books. One thing I always loved was how writing was expressed in different languages but still held indefinite emotion. Language is a tool used everywhere one goes; it is the powerful key that opens up a world of communication. Without grasping the concept of language, one isn’t able to express themselves the way he or she would like to. As I continue to learn, I hope to improve my writing skills and techniques and make these next four years in college some of my best writing pieces.
