Although I am not Muslim myself, I find it extremely important to indulge yourself and learn about other religions. As an Arab Christian, I found myself learning more about the Quran and where its historical roots came from. Many Muslims abide by the Quran and use it as a daily fuel to live a righteous life and serve Allah (God). The Quran is the book of Allah and Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of God. I found it extremely intriguing when the scholar speakers said that in over 1,450 years, not a single word from the Quran has been changed. This showcases how strong faith is inside of these Muslim’s souls. Muslims also believe that Prophet Muhammad was the living arbitrarily sent by God to show others his goodness.
Although most Muslims are not Arab, in fact only 18% are, the Quran is 100% written in the Arabic language. They discussed that it was extremely miraculous in nature how God allowed a person who did not know how to read or write access the Quran to teach others. These scholars then further explained that Allah’s ability is unlimited and universal.
The Quran may be in Arabic, yet its message and teachings are classified universal. This is what makes the Quran easy to understand and memorize by millions of Muslims around the world. The message of the Quran was ruled gradual and it was considered to be inherently perfect, factual, and made with no doubt. As a person who has believed in Christ since they took their first breath, I was left wondering why they believed Jesus was only a prophet of God. As a Christian, I believe in the Holy Trinity, meaning God is the son, the father, and the holy spirit. This seminar allowed me to experience the difference held between Islam and Christianity. This seminar allowed me to grow stronger in my faith and visualize similarities and differences between religions. Overall, this seminar was very knowledgeable, factual, and expanded my respect for all religions.
Hi Pamela!
I completely agree that it’s important to learn about other religions and cultures. I had no idea that words in the Quran haven’t been changed in over 1,450 years and it was fascinating to learn!
I completely agree that learning about other religions and cultures is incredibly important. I was unaware that the Quran has remained unchanged for over 1,450 years, truly a mark of strong faith as you said!
I love this reflection! I think it is really important to witness other cultures and their religions, especially if you are a religious person yourself! I loved how you explained what you learned without being judgemental or biased. I also loved how you connected it to your own faith and acknowledged that while there were differences, you can still respect another person’s religion and practice your own at the same time.
